Digital Radiography & Computer Imaging

equipment.jpgOur practice uses digital radiography, photography and computer imaging.  This sophisticated computer technology aids the doctor in diagnosing and formulating your individualized treatment plan with little to no radiation used.  It also allows the patient and parent to better visualize the orthodontic problems and treatment benefits.  These radiographs provide us with invaluable information about your oral and dental health.

While radiographic equipment does produce radiation (and depends on that radiation to function properly), modern advances in technology are continually reducing the amount of radiation that is produced. In fact, studies have shown that the amount of radiation produced by these machines is not significantly higher than other “normal” sources of radiation that we are exposed to on perhaps a daily basis, such as televisions and airplanes.

iTero® Element™ Intraoral Scanner

To ensure your treatment experience is as comfortable and effective as possible, we are always looking for ways to improve our practice with the latest in digital treatment technologies.  For that reason, we have invested in the new iTero® Element™ Intraoral Scanner for our office.  This state-of-the-art scanner allows us to capture a digital, mess-free and 3D model of your teeth and gums.  With a disposable tip and small, gentle wand, you can trust that your treatment scan will be as comfortable, clean and fast as possible. This means no more impressions for diagnostic records.

Some benefits of digital impressions include:

  • Accuracy: Captures the exact contours of your teeth.
  • Efficiency: Requires less time in the treatment chair.
  • Comfort: No gooey mess associated with impression material.
  • Safe: No radiation exposure; uses a laser to generate images.
  • Innovation: Uses the most advanced 3-D video technologies.
